About the department

The Department was established in the year 1957. This Department has a well equipped computer laboratory with the latest software in Mathematics such as MATHEMATICA, MathCAD, SYSTAT, PHEONICS, NISA FLUID3D, Maple, SIMUL8, LINGO, MINITAB, STATISTICA and StarCD. The department of Mathematics strives to maintain high standards of teaching in various areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics. In addition, doctoral programme is offered in several areas of mathematics such as Computational Fluid Dynamics, Graph Theory, Topology, Automata Theory, Bio-Informatics, Data Analysis, Fuzzy Mathematics and Discrete Dynamical Systems.

Mission

The department of Mathematics strives to maintain high standards of teaching in various areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics. The mission of the mathematics department is to endow with an environment where students can be trained to become competent users of mathematics and mathematical application. Moreover, the department will contribute to the development of students as mathematical sophist, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in their chosen professions, and to function as productive citizens.
