Characteristics

Characteristics of waste Plastics:

  Thermal Behavior:

Polymers namely PE, PP and PS get softened easily around 130-140°C without evaluation of any gas. Only above 270°C they either decomposed or burnt to produce gaseous products.

  Binding Property:

The stone aggregate when coated with molten plastics and compacted, it forms a hard block with very high compression strength (>100mpa) and flexural strength (>450kg/cm). This shows that molten plastics can be used as a bilnder.

  Blending Property:

Plastic coated Aggregate when mixed with hard bitumen, they mix well and the blend can be used for road construction. Coated plastics waste helps to increase both blending property and binding property.
