TCE Data Center

Data Center was established in TCE to consolidate all the App Servers, DB servers and Compute clusters into a single facility to ease the maintenance and provisioning of servers and Apps to users throughout the campus. Since its inception in 2011, it has simplified the life of the OPs and the IT teams in TCE and has brought down the operational cost incurred for the data center by a considerable extent. It houses about eight racks fitted with servers and compute cluster nodes for hosting a variety of services like TCE Website, TCENet, TCE Attendance Monitoring System, Video lecture streaming, TCE Cloud, TCE Moodle etc. It hosts infrastructure amounting to Rs. 3 crores approx. TCE Data center offers internet facility throughout the campus with the help of the following external ISP backbones:

• BSNL 1 Gbps Internet Leased Line (ILL)
• 1 Gbps from National Knowledge Network (NKN)
• Airtel 100 Mbps

The data center has a 24x7 cooling system to keep the heat emanated under control and it is endowed with a 250 KVA Generator with auto mode support and a 30 KVA UPS. For ensuring the physical security of the data center it is equipped with the following:

• Smoke detectors
• Fire extinguisher
• Surveillance camera
• Door access control

Central Computer Centre

The Centralized Computing Centre(CCC) of TCE was established in the year 2004 with the main objective providing state-of-art computational facility for the academic and research community. This state-of-the-art facility features an HP Itanium Server, HP Blade servers and HP ML350G servers with SAN and NAS storage and 150 HP Desktops.

These centralized servers have been instrumental in implementing  ‘Single Sign On (SSO) - a facility that allows users to use all the machines inside the campus irrespective of their operating system, using unique IDs. The major services include

• User file storage in NAS
• Intranet access
• Mail server access

Fire Fighting System

We understand the importance of minimizing these risks to maintain the seamless functioning of teaching, research, and campus life.

In line with the National Building Code 2016 Part IV (Fire and Life Safety System), TCE is fully committed to adhering to all fire safety regulations and continuously upgrading our fire protection systems. A dedicated team of experts ensures the installation, maintenance, and testing of fire safety systems, and all activities are performed with strict adherence to safety standards. Regular preventive maintenance is conducted, and comprehensive records are kept to monitor and assess the condition and functionality of the fire safety equipment.

Health Care Facilities

At Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), we prioritize the health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. To ensure prompt medical assistance, the campus is equipped with an ambulance service available at all times for emergency situations. Additionally, a well-equipped nurse station is located within the campus, staffed by trained medical professionals to address minor health concerns and provide first aid. These facilities are part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for everyone at TCE, ensuring that medical support is readily accessible whenever needed.

Bank & Post Office

Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) offers convenient banking and postal services to cater to the needs of our students, faculty, and staff. The campus is home to an exclusive post office, providing essential services such as mailing, parcel dispatch, and receipt of letters and packages. This on-campus post office ensures that the community has easy access to postal services without the need to leave the campus.

Additionally, we have an ICICI Bank branch located within the campus, offering a wide range of banking services. This includes account opening, deposits, withdrawals, and access to ATMs, ensuring that financial transactions are quick and hassle-free. Both these facilities contribute to the overall convenience and comfort of our campus, allowing our community to manage their postal and banking needs efficiently, with a high level of accessibility and security. Transport Facilities

Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) provides reliable and convenient transport facilities for students, faculty, and staff. The college operates a fleet of around 10 buses, covering various routes across Madurai to ensure easy and safe commuting. These buses are available for daily travel to and from the campus, offering accessible transportation options for everyone. Whether for academic purposes or extracurricular activities, the transport service is designed to accommodate the needs of our community, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. This facility reflects our commitment to providing a smooth and hassle-free campus experience for all.
