The Department was established in 1957. The Department of Mathematics equips engineering students with essential mathematical skills and knowledge through a diverse range of courses tailored to different engineering programs. The Department of Mathematics strives to maintain high standards of teaching to the students with potential faculty members. The department incorporates MATLAB, PYTHON, and R- Programming in academics to enable students to perform mathematical computations. The department offers a Doctoral programme in several areas of mathematics such as Automata Theory, Bio-Informatics, Data Analysis, Stochastic Processes, Differential Equations, and Statistical Methods.

Programmes Offered

The Ph.D. Programme in Mathematics offers advanced research opportunities in both theoretical and applied domains. It focuses on Theory of Computation, Formal Languages, and Automata Theory, exploring the mathematical foundations of computing. Scholars study computational models, algorithmic complexity, and formal systems underlying modern technologies. In the applied stream, research areas include Statistical Quality Control, Applied Statistics, Optimization, and Sampling Theory. This specialization emphasizes data analysis, process improvement, and decision-making through quantitative methods. The programme fosters analytical thinking, innovation, and interdisciplinary applications of mathematics. Students are trained in research methodology, modeling, and advanced mathematical tools. The curriculum encourages publishing in reputed journals and participation in conferences. Graduates can pursue careers in academia, research organizations, data science, and industry. Overall, the programme blends rigorous theory with practical applications, nurturing future mathematical researchers and innovators.
